I need ideas for an E.T. cake for my daughter's birthday?

My daughter will be turning 3 in April and she is obsessed with E.T. She has been for quite some time now. Consequently, now she wants an E.T. cake for her birthday and I am trying to come up with a plan. I am somewhat crafty and last years Dora (Ugh!) cake came out pretty good. Unfortunately E.T. is not a big hit in the cake scene apparently because I can't find many ideas online - and no E.T. shaped pans (and I even checked a couple retro Wilton cake pan sites). The best I have found thus far is a fondant covered mold of E.T. made out of a rice crispy treat mix and atop a regular cake. I'm good but I'm not THAT good. Please help! Any ideas appreciated! Rather then making something in the shape of his head, try a 9x13 cake and frost/paint/decorate it in the classic ET scene with him riding a bike into the moon with decorator toys. or something like this one: http://cakes.dqd.com/Birthdays_web/pages/ET.htm - it looks like it's made with chocolate chips If your really need a cake made in the shape of his head, I would say may a 2D one and cut out the shape of his head. You can buy fondant at Michaels or any craft store and it's relatively easy to cover a cake with it. You'll want the fondant though because you won't be able to frost the cake where it is cut.
