How to Plan a Wedding if You Are Short on Cash   by Daniel Theiss

Most brides dream of their wedding day from the time they are little girls. Sometimes, however, creating a dream wedding can simply cost too much. Don't become upset if you are trying to plan your wedding while you are short on cash! There are innumerable ways that you can cut costs and still have a lovely wedding.

Before you book anything or truly begin planning, you and your partner must figure out your exact budget. This is a great way to make sure that you don't overspend when you begin hiring your vendors. You should also, together, create a list of your priorities for the day. This will help you figure out which areas you want to dedicate most of your budget to. For instance, if you decide that your cake and photography are the two most important things to you, you should plan to spend more money on those aspects.

This article is intended to provide you with creative ways to stretch your budget in almost every area of your big day. Keep reading for a multitude of helpful suggestions.

1. Because the reception is often the most expensive aspect of the wedding, you should try to cut costs here as much as you can. One fabulous way to cut costs is to invite only a select number of guests. You do not need to feel obligated to invite everyone you have ever known to your wedding reception. Keep the guest list as small as possible in order to save money.

Another great way to save money is to host your reception at a friend or family's residence. This will typically save you hundreds or thousands of dollars compared to renting a venue. If you must book a venue, though, try to opt for a Friday or Sunday affair.

2. Many couples find that catering is another of their largest wedding expenditures. In order to reduce the cost of your wedding day catering, offer a buffet with recipes made from in-season foods. Additionally, you can save a vast amount of money by offering only a few types of alcohol, like beer, wine, and a signature cocktail.

3. It is not necessary to pay as much as most couples do for wedding day floral arrangements. Your flowers will be dramatically cheaper if you pick options that are in-season when you are getting married. It is also relatively simple to craft your own centerpieces and bouquets. This can be a fun weekend task for you and your bridesmaids, for example.

4. Do not feel that you have to offer a favor at your wedding reception. If you decide you want to offer favors, choose an item that is edible and can be purchased cheaply in bulk. It is necessary to have wedding invitations.

5. Don't become preoccupied with the decorations for your wedding ceremony. Since the majority of wedding ceremonies are fairly succinct, guests won't be at the ceremony site for a long amount of time. Rather than concerning yourself with elaborate decorations for the ceremony, spend your money on other items. You must have the best wedding invitations.
