Character Designs

Kids always love character cakes.  Basically, just prepare a design of the character that your tiny tot loves most and take it to the local bake shop.  If you plan on making the cake at home, there are two ways to do this.  If you are more practiced in this area, then designing the character with icing should be a breeze.  However, not everyone has that talent.  So if you can bake one scrumptious cake but can’t really copy the face of a character on it, you can buy a toy or a figure and merely place it on top.

One example, if your cake is for a boy, you can but a handful of those green troopers on the cake.  If you are baking for a little girl, you can get a Barbie doll and actually put together a round cake that will serve as her dress.  What you have to do is to create a hole in the center of the cake where you can put the doll.  What is especially awesome about this is that when there is nothing but crumbs left of the cake, your little one will still have a toy.

Photo Cakes

Photo cakes have quite become the in thing over the past few years.  With these cakes, there will be no more need to scribble down the celebrants name across the cake.  Head on down to the nearest bake shop with a picture of your kid and have them "print" it on the cake with icing.

The complete cake is edible and kids just go gaga over the thought of their face being on a cake.  But what they find even funnier is when the candles are blown people start eating it.  What makes them ultimately laugh is watching people eat their eyes or their nose.
