Take your weight loss slowly

It’s true that there are ‘miracle diets’ or weight loss aids available. Be aware that there is not much evidence that fad diets have a lasting effect. You are likely to get heavier again, unless you have turned around your eating habits.

It is recommended that you should try to lose no more than 0.9kg per week. Set goals that you can be sure of reaching.

Get out and exercise

You should aim to exercise for half an hour each day, and the National Health Service says this should be anything that increases your pulse rate and makes you warmer than usual. That can even be a chore the in the house, if you haven’t enough time for playing a sport or going outside.

If you’re really not used to exercising, it is be worth going to your local GP for a health check first. It would also be a good plan to build up slowly and try to build in exercise to your weekly routine – walking to the next bus stop along your route, or taking the stairs at work.

Make sure your diet is a healthy one

Make sure to stick to a healthy diet including lots of fruit and veg. You should try to reduce the amount of fat, especially saturated fat, like the fat found in cakes and butter, and eating a varied number of foods is best. If you’re clinically obese your doctor may be able to prescribe a pill like Xenical which can reduce the amount of fat absorbed by your body, which may help alongside all your various diet and lifestyle changes .

Ask your friends to help

The best thing is to have friends or family who are willing to give you help. When you’re feeling sad they can cheer you up, and help you to succeed at losing weight and being healthy.
