is it hard to make a good looking cake with FONDANT yourself?

i was gonna go to a professional cake boutique but they have terrible review and are the only cake places in my area.

It is hard to use fondant and have it look nice without practicing quite a bit. I would say make some smaller cakes just to practice so you can get the feel for fondant and how it works and then make your cake. Make sure you dont roll the fondant too thick or too thin and you dont want to over work it either. I would definitely do some research on the internet so that you make yourself feel more comfortable and have a little more knowledge before you start.
